PAUL A. GOMPERZ, CLU CHFC

Paul Gomperz has spent almost forty years developing retirement plans for companies of all sizes as well as for individuals. He also provides life insurance to executive groups as well as for individuals. Paul's company, VBS, is an independent firm using products from many providers that are continually scrutinized. With retirement plans, Paul's specialty is creating portfolios consisting of a diverse group of asset classes using a variety of name-brand mutual funds. Paul uses this specialty in creating menus for corporate 401(k) plans as well as for individuals who invest in Variable Life Insurance and Variable Annuities. It is the experience and knowledge Paul gained over the years working with clients in both rising and falling markets that led to the creation of The Volatility Buffering Strategy.

Paul created life insurance programs for the top executives of GPU Energy and Keyspan Energy (Brooklyn Union Gas & LILCO). He also works with many CPA's and Attorneys providing life insurance for their clients that have estate planning needs. Paul maintains relationships with many insurance companies, each of which excels in some form of life insurance product. His philosophy is to work with companies that not only offer competitive pricing today, but whose history shows that they maintain long-term support of the products they sold in the past. In addition, Paul and his company offer voluntary plans of insurance, investments and related products to employees of companies where the employer's only obligation is to give access to their employees during working hours and to provide a payroll deduction. Over the years, his largest clients included Beatrice Foods, (a diversified food-based company that owned Dannon Yogurt), the County of Bergen (New Jersey) and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Paul earned his B.A. degree from Columbia University in 1958 where he majored in Economics. He later did graduate work in Finance at the University of Southern California's Graduate School of Business Administration. Paul earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1977 and his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1984. Within the industry, Paul went through the chairs of the Greater Newark Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, one of the largest chapters in the nation, serving as President in 2000-2001. He continues to serve the chapter as the Liaison from the National Society.

In 1980, Paul was the founding President of the Columbia University Club of Northern New Jersey and is currently serves as Treasurer. Since 1982, he has served on the Columbia University Alumni Insurance Committee which oversees the marketing of sponsored insurance products to over 250,000 alumni around the world. Paul was Chairman of the committee from 1994 to 2006. Paul is a Board member and serves on the Executive Committee of the newly formed Columbia Alumni Association. In 1985 Paul was awarded Columbia's Alumni Medal for conspicuous service to the University.

Paul has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges, the largest YMCA in New Jersey, since 1971. He served as Chairman from 1985 to 1989 and has since served as a Trustee and chaired the Long-Range Planning Committee. Paul is a past President of the Downtown Millburn Development Alliance, a non-profit corporation that manages the town's Special Business Improvement District.
